Three Types Of Doors To Consider When You Buy A Side By Side

When you begin the process of shopping for a side-by-side, one of the things that you'll find enjoyable is deciding exactly what design you want the vehicle to have. A motorsports dealer will have an extensive inventory of side-by-sides that you can evaluate until you find the one that will suit you best. One topic to consider is the doors on this vehicle, which come in a variety of different styles. It's a good idea to think about how you intend to use a side-by-side, as doing so can help you to better choose which door style will suit you. Here are some options.

Door With Window

The door style that provides you with a lot of protection is a hard door that comes up about midway to the roof with a window that spans from the top of the door to the side-by-side's roll cage. This isn't a type of door that people often want in the summer, but it's optimal for winter use. If you envision using your side-by-side during the winter — for work or for play — having a door and a window will keep you out of the elements. For example, if it's snowing hard while you ride, you won't be cold and wet by the end of the outing.

Half Door

A popular option for side-by-side doors is a half door, which essentially comes halfway up your body. When you're riding, the top of the door will roughly be at the middle of your torso, not unlike a door in a standard street vehicle. There are lots of advantages to choosing this type of door when you buy a side-by-side. It's easy to get in and out of the vehicle, and you'll get a good flow of air inside of the vehicle. This can be ideal for riding in the summer months when you wouldn't want to be in an enclosed compartment.

Mini Door

Another choice for doors for your side-by-side is the mini door. This door style is available on certain models and, as its name indicates, is extremely small. It's shorter than a standard half door, and while it provides some coverage, it's also low enough that you can easily jump out of the side-by-side without opening the door. If you envision using this vehicle in a manner in which getting out quickly would be advantageous, this may be the type of door that would suit you best.
